Mrs. Akin passed away January 20, 2015 in Longview, Texas.
Mrs. Amelia Ruth Daugherty Akin was born January 22, 1938 in Roswell, NM. She was one of seven children born to Almer and Beth “Mom B” Miller Daugherty.
Amelia was raised and schooled in Roswell where she graduated high school. She also attended Eastern New Mexico University.
Amelia met and later married Wyman Akin on December 28, 1957 in Roswell, NM and celebrated 57 years together.
Mrs. Akin was a homemaker raising three children in a loving Christian home. Amelia loved fishing, golfing, playing cards and bowling. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Akin is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Amelia is survived by her loving husband, Wyman Akin; children Monte Akin of Longview, Betsy Brinkley and husband John of Carthage, Marte Akin of Dallas; sister, Martha Ford of Roswell, NM; grandchildren, Nolan Akin and wife Brandy, Brant Akin, Tony Akin and wife Nicole, Matt Akin, Joey Brinkley, Wendy Warner and husband Brandon; six great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughter.
