She was born May 1, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to James Sanford and Blanche Marie Tock.
Her father moved the family to Centerville, Iowa. She met her future husband, Sandy, while cheering for him at sporting events. They married in 1945 and moved to Cheyenne, where Sandy took a job as a lineman with Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power.
Dorothe worked for the VA, F.E. Warren Air Force Base teaching shorthand and typing, and the airport control tower. She then took a job with Arabian Horse News.
They also owned two Arabian horses. After the children left home, she volunteered for the auxiliary at a Cheyenne hospital. They were lifelong members of First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, and belonged to the Questers antique club, doll club and red hat ladies. She and Sandy traveled all over Europe, Guatemala and sailed in the Bahamas. They took the grandchildren on a trip every summer in their Airstream Trailer.
Dorothe was never idle for long. They wintered in Yuma before moving to Casa Grande.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Blanche Tock; husband, Sandy; daughter, Sandra; son- in-law, Rich Trautwein; and sister, Mary Jean Tock.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Belinda) Akes; nephew, Denis Nelson; sisters, Peggy (Don) Stanczyk-Hakola and Nancy (Sid) Ulvick; brother, Robert (Pat) Tock; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) McClintic, Cara (Chris) Johnson, Deanna (Erik) Plank, Rhianna (Brian) Akes and Andree (Bob) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ethan Adyson, Tavia Briley, Katie, Brady, Eva, Kali, Colton and Hadly Haylee; numerous nieces and nephews; and her friends in Cheyenne.
