Mrs. Akes was born October 26, 1941, in Richland County, the daughter of Russell Otho and Clara Alice (Galloway) Weston.
She married Howard "Shorty" Akes on December 7, 1966. He survives.
She retired from Champion Laboratories in West Salem.
Mrs. Akes is survived by her son, Russell Dilley and his wife, Brenda, of West Salem; daughter, Candie Belcher and her husband, Mike, of Olney; son, John Dilley and his wife, Shella, of Albion; daughter, Tammie Yealick and her husband, Terry, of Olney; son, Howard Akes I; brother, Billy Weston and his wife, Janice, of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Otho and Clara Alice Weston; son, Howard Akes Jr.; brothers, Larry and Bobby Weston; and one great-grandchild.
