ALEXANDRIA - Lana Aker Smith, formerly of Radford, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at her residence in Alexandria.
She was employed for 29 years at Cherrydale Safeway in Arlington.
She was the beloved wife of Roger L. Smith Sr.; devoted mother of Roger L. Smith Jr., Delaplane; Carolyn Braun, Columbia, Md.; and Marilyn Laughlin, Pensacola, Fla.; daughter of Vance and Ruth Aker; sister of Sharon Duncan, Donald and R. Michael Aker, all of Radford.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Eric Braun; Brittany, Paige and James (Bo) Laughlin Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, conducted by Rev. Ronald Duncan. Interment will be in Sunrise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Alexandria Hospital Cancer Center, 4320 Seminary Road, Alexandria, VA 22304.
