Betty M. Ake, 67, of New Enterprise, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2016, at Altoona UPMC.
Born on Feb. 21, 1949, in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Floyd F. Sr. and Rosie (Musselman) Frederick.
On Nov. 9, 1974, in Waterside, she married James C. Ake.
Betty worked as a bank teller at the New Enterprise Bank and later as a cake decorator for both Dunkin Donuts and Donut Connection in Bedford. She was a member of the Waterside Church of the Brethren where she served as deaconess and was in the Church's Women's Group. Betty enjoyed cake baking for family and friends, sewing, gardening, and above all, spending time with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Bowers.
She is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Heather R. Dibert (Michael) and Heidi L. Ake, both of New Enterprise; sisters, Carol Jean Frederick of New Enterprise, Dorothy Frederick of Roaring Spring, and Linda Johnson of New Enterprise; and brother, Floyd F. Frederick Jr. (Linda) of New Enterprise. Also surviving are grandsons, Isaac M. and Ezekiel J. Dibert.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury.
A second visitation will take place on Friday, March 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Waterside Church of the Brethren. At 11 a.m. a funeral service will occur with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.
Interment will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery.
