Florence and her husband Bill moved to Florida in 1980, to live retirement far from the snowy winters of their native Pittsburgh, PA. Florence was the youngest of four sisters, and lived her adolescence through the years of the Great Depression. She met her husband during WWII and they married shortly before Bill shipped out to Europe in 1943. Like many young couples during the war years, they kept their romance alive with letters and photos to each other. They raised two daughters and were happily married for 58 years until Bill's death.
Florence worked in banking, in a day when women managed branch banks without the perks or titles of their male bosses. Bill was also employed by Union National Bank in data processing. They retired together and moved to Palm Bay Colony, where they established an active life, socializing with their many friends, keeping ties with Pittsburgh ex-pats, and enjoying all Florida had to offer.
Florence is survived by her daughters Susan Aitken-Hamilton (Chad), of San Francisco; and Beverly Zorich (Eli), of Collier Township, PA, and her three grandsons - Chris Zorich, of Mt. Lebanon, PA; Gus Hamilton, of San Jose, CA; and Ian Hamilton, of San Francisco, CA.
A memorial service will be held at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay at 1 pm on May 10.
