Sgt. Ellis V. Airgood, aged 33, was killed in action in France on Aug 19. His wife, Cecilia Airgood, 718 West Eighth Street, was informed of his death in a telegram from the war department this morning. He was in the infantry. Sgt. Airgood entered the army in July, 1942, and had been overseas since July of this year.
Sgt. Airgood was a catcher on the 1928 championship Mishawaka High School baseball team.
Surviving other than his widow are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Court Airgood, of Berrien Center, Mich." three brothers, Pfc. Wayne Airgood, who is with the army overseas, and Joseph R. Airgood, of Mishawaka, and Loren Airgood, of Benton Harbor, Mich., and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Felabom and Mrs. Felda L. Watts, both of Mishawaka.

Sgt. Airgood, 33, Berrien Center, Dies in Action
Berrien Center, Sept. 15--
Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Airgood were informed that their son Sgt. Ellis V. Airgood, 33, was killed in action in France. Aug. 19, according to a telegram received by Sgt. Airgood's wife, Mrs. Cecelia Airgood, 718 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka, Ind., Sept. 8.
Sgt. Airgood entered the service in July, 1942 and was assigned to the infantry. He went overseas in July of this year.
He came to this community in 1930 and lived here and in Eau Claire for several years, part of which time he was employed by the Berrien County Packing company at both Eau Claire and Benton Harbor.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Dixie Lee Airgood of Eau Claire, four brothers, Pfc. Wayne with army overseas; Roxy, Mishawaka; Loren, Benton Harbor: Chester, Nebraska: two sisters, Mrs. Ida Felabom and Mrs. Felda Watts, both of Mishawaka, Ind.

sgt Ellis V Airgood, 80th US Infantry div, 318th reg was killed in action aug 19th, 1944 when liberating Argentan (Normandy). We'll never forget, RIP.
