Mrs. Aiken was born May, 27th, 1922 in Marcus, Iowa to Michael and Myrtle O'Brien. She attended Iowa parochial schools, University of Maryland, University of Alabama, Creighton University, and Adelphi College. Mrs. Aiken also was a dedicated politician and environmentalist who served a term in the House of Delegates from 1975-78, she also was the first President of the Women's Political Caucus of Anne Arundel County. She was also involved with the Maryland Environmental Trust, as well as Anne Arundel County Soil Conservation which she was a Direct Supervisor. In 1996 she was appointed by the Governor to be part of Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission, 7th Commission District, which she was a part of until 2003. 

In addition to those duties she was also a loving and dedicated wife to Lt. Col. Albert S. Aiken who passed in 2000. Mrs. Aiken was also proceeded in death by her brothers, Michael, Jack and Phillip O'Brien, and her nephew Kevin O'Brien. 

Mrs. Aiken was a loving, caring and dedicated mother to Michael Aiken, and Nora Scott. She had one granddaughter Catherine Emerson and grandson-in-law Christopher Emerson and three great grandsons Jared, Gavin, and Silas. She is also survived by her brothers Thomas, Robert and Donald O'Brien, and her sister Shivaun Nasypany. Mrs. Aiken also leaves behind an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Trees for the Future in her name.
