KERRVILLE — Bonnie Ahrens, a third-generation Houstonian, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.

She was born to Laurence Joseph Forney and Florence Lillian Ferguson on Oct. 6, 1927. She attended Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, until she met the love of her life, Bob Ahrens, her brother's roommate at Texas A&M University. They were married on Nov. 6, 1948. Bob's career with Diamond Shamrock took her and her family from Houston to Mobile, Alabama, to Delaware, and finally to Tierra Linda Ranch, where they built a beautiful home in 1981. Bonnie and Bob traveled over most of America and Europe with their many close friends. Bonnie was very active in her church and many charity organizations. Her main enjoyment in life seemed to be helping others. She loved her friends and family very much and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her son, David and his wife, Jane and their two sons, Adam and Zachary and his wife, Lauren; a daughter, Carol Mackinnon and her husband, Alex and their two sons, Cameron Mackinnon and wife, Allison and children Maci, Mia, Brody and Owen, and Brian Mackinnon and Amber and their children, Ainsley and Caitlyn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.
