Peacefully at Kaiser Hospital in South San Francisco Nov. 1, 2003, age 54. Joyce had a disease called Lupus and almost died twice in her early 20s. She lived with her Lupus for over 30 years and was able to keep it in remission with the help of Prednisone. 17 months ago she was admitted to the hospital and then diagnosed with cancer. She went through 15 months of chemotherapy with a positive attitude and was doing really well until the Lupus flared up and the cancer got worse. With both things working against her, she fought to the end. She was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Through it all, she kept herself as though she never had a sick day in her life. She loved her job and fellow employees. She was an office manager and an office dispatcher in the heating and air conditioning business and it broke her heart when she had to leave, but she held her head high, persevered and dealt with her illness and spent time with her family. She was a strong woman. We will all miss her but know she is in a better place with her God.
