Ernest D. Aguilar, 44, Del Norte, Colorado, died March 14th of leukemia at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17th at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte with Rev. Fr. William Connor officiating. Graveside services were conducted by a fort Carson Army Unit at the Del Norte cemetery.
Aguilar was born Nov. 7, 1934 in La Garita, Colorado to Ralph and Delia Atencio Aguilar. He was a self-employed trucker who lived in Del Norte all his life. A war veteran, he served in the reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his parents; a stepson, Phil Sanz, Jr.; and two daughters, Mrs. Art Garcia, Colorado Springs; and Lorie Aguilar, Del Norte. Four brothers and two sisters also survive: Joe Aguilar, Denver; Vick, Aguilar, Pueblo; Mick Aguilar, Colorado Springs, Danny Aguilar, Pueblo; Mrs. Pete Chavez, Monte Vista, and Mrs. Elimelda Maez, Pueblo, Colorado.
