Paul James Daniel Agard, 69, of Sarasota, joined his wife, Jacquelyn Jean Agard, in eternal rest on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009.
Survivors are a brother, Russell (Gayle) Agard of Ohio; a brother-in-law, Frank Mezget of Calif.; a son, Jason of Ohio; daughters Debra (David) Goodman of Sarasota and Dianna (Chris) Cichon of Ohio; sons Michael and Patrick Britton of Sarasota; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Paul served proudly in the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge and Al Sirat Masonic Lodge. He was part of the first co-ed class to graduate from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, with a degree in sociology and psychology. Paul was a painter by trade and a self-proclaimed "wood butcher," making amazing wood benches, tables, cabinets, frames and gifts out of all types of wood. He enjoyed collecting knives, guns and antiques. He loved garage sales and western movies. He had many "sayings" and stories that will be missed by his family and friends. His smile could light up a room; he was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at his home at 2938 West Mark Drive, Sarasota, FL 34232. Paul will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Newbury Cemetery in Newbury, Ohio.
