Buffalo Evening News Friday, July 13, 1888

Angola: Mrs. Agard, sister of Mrs. Ticknor of this place, died Monday at the Home for the Friendless in Buffalo (1500 Main Street). Aged 66.

Phoebe Agard was a widow.

Died 7/9/1888, 66 y, sister of Mrs. Ticknor. Born 1821, Angola NY. Forest Lawn, Section DD, Lot DD-3. Photo of name on wreath by People Inc. Entered Home 2/13/1885, husband was cruel man, left her w/o any means of support. Her son went on the lakes when very young, was never heard or seen again. She mourned her lost boy. Afer husband left her, she went to live w sister in Angola, who was very poor & supporting herself by the needle. Not long after going there, the house & contents were burned, and Mrs Agard lost all she had except $100 her father had left her, and being too feeble in mind & body to do manual labor, determined to apply for admission to our Home. A few wks ago fell, fractured hip, gradually failed till 7/9, when she died. Funeral Tues 7/10 from the Home, Rev Rockwood, buried in the Home lot at Forest Lawn.
