In 1843, he married Miss Lucy ALLSOP, of Nottinghamshire, England. In 1848, they sailed for the United States, landing in New York; remained for some fifteen or sixteen years. In the spring of 1864, they came to Iowa, settling in Muscatine Co., where they have since resided;

In 1865, Lucy A. Agar died; Mr. A. again married Sarah Jane ROWAN, daughter of John A. Rowan of this county in the fall of 1867;

Mr. A. is by trade a cabinet maker, which trade he followed prior to coming to Iowa; since, has been farming, and has a fine farm of 150 acres. He is Independent in politics.
