Andy Adkins, 47, a Marlow world war veteran died, Wednesday*, in an Oklahoma City hospital, where he was being treated for pneumonia

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie Adkins, of this city; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Adkins of Purdy Okla.; two brothers, Ovie of Lindsay and Odis of Floydad of Texas; sister, Vida Adkins of Purdy Okla.

Funeral services were held here at 2:30 Thursday afternoon from the Marlow Funeral Home chapel and were conducted by, Rev. Roy E Sanders, pastor of the First Christian church.

Mr. Adkins was born October 29, 1889, in Graham Oklahoma, and was 47 years, three months, and 25 days, of age at the time of his death. He was married to Maggie Hager in 1921 at Lindsay, Okla.

He enlisted in the army on September 19, 1917, at Rush Springs, serving in the machine gun company, 357th Infantry, 90th Division. He received his training at Camp Travis (San Antonio) Texas and sailed from France on June 20, 1918. He was wounded in a battle on the St Miehiel front and returned to the United States on October 28, 1918, He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1919. He was a faithful member of American Legion Post No 9 at Marlow for several years.

Pallbearers at the funeral were Alex Sage, Carl Wright, O. T. Hammond, Homer Brown, C. D. Acord, and Jim Brooks all members of the local post of the American Legion.

Interment was in the Marlow cemetery The Marlow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
