Mr. Adkins owned and operated a Towing Service and was a member of North Cross Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Richard was the type of guy who could make a bad situation good with his infectious laugh and personality. He was a very generous and loyal friend.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Patricia Poteat Adkins of the home; one son, Jordan Blake Adkins and wife Taylor Summerow of Morganton; daughter, Britnye Michelle Adkins Campbell and husband Charles of Lenoir; one sister, Margaret “Cookie” Wallace and husband Tim Hollander of Lenoir; and grandchildren, Bayleigh Jordynn Campbell and Blake Gene Adkins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at North Cross Church conducted by Rev. Charlie Crump and Tom Cornell. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
