ichard Gerald Adkins, age 50, of Playmore Beach Road, Lenoir, passed away, Friday, October 16, 2015. He was born December 19, 1964, in Caldwell County to Irene Martin Adkins of Lenoir and the late Gene Adkins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gregory Adkins.
Mr. Adkins owned and operated a Towing Service and was a member of North Cross Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Richard was the type of guy who could make a bad situation good with his infectious laugh and personality. He was a very generous and loyal friend.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Patricia Poteat Adkins of the home; one son, Jordan Blake Adkins and wife Taylor Summerow of Morganton; daughter, Britnye Michelle Adkins Campbell and husband Charles of Lenoir; one sister, Margaret “Cookie” Wallace and husband Tim Hollander of Lenoir; and grandchildren, Bayleigh Jordynn Campbell and Blake Gene Adkins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at North Cross Church conducted by Rev. Charlie Crump and Tom Cornell. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
