Jewel was the son of Rubin and Liliie Farmer Addie. He was a Private in the US Army, WWII. He married Beatrice Varnell Addie on Oct 12, 1940. Their children are Donald, Joyce (who died in 2000 and is buried at Line Creek next to Elizabeth Roberts, her granddaughter,) Jerry, Linda and Douglas J. Addie.
