Arthur served as a Sergeant & Photographer on B-24J #44-41358, 868th Bomber Squadron, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He was assigned to this flight and was actually a member of the 6th Army Air Force Combat Camera Unit.

He resided in Clay County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 22, 1943 in Abilene, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Single, without dependents.

Arthur was declared "Missing In Action" when the B-24 he was on did not return after a mission during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
