ADAMS PHYLLIS QULINE JEAN Was born in Oakland, California on June 18, 1946 to Levada Adams and the late Julius Adams, Sr. She was one of three children born to this union. She spent her school age years in the Oakland area and graduated from Oakland High School. She went on to attend San Francisco University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in creative arts and a master's degree in education. Phyllis was a loved and dedicated kindergarten teacher at Verde Elementary School in Richmond, CA. She also taught evening classes at various adult schools in the Bay Area. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano and graciously shared her gift of music with those around her. She was the president of the UMOJA chapter of the National Council of Negro Women in Oakland and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Phyllis attended Williams Chapel A.M.E. Church in her youth, which later merged with two other churches in 1978 to become, the present Brookins A.M.E. Church. At Brookins, she faithfully served in the choir and on the missionary board. She departed this life on March 27, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Levada Adams; one sister, Marian Langford; one brother, Julius Adams, Jr.; one niece, Aisha Langfdord; one nephew, Akil Langford, one brother-in-law, Louis Langford; and many cousins and friends. Viewing Wednesday, April 2, 2003 9:00 A.M. -11:00 A.M. Funeral Service Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. Both services at Brookins AME Church 2201 73rd Ave., Oakland, CA.
