Anita Jackson Adams was born June 8, 1920 in Cookville, TX to James H. & Maggie Johnson Coffey, and passed peacefully October 22 , 2012 in Kansas City, MO.

Anita graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and business school. She came to Baytown in 1948 and began a long career in banking at Peoples State Bank. She remained at the bank for 36 years and retired as an Assistant Vice President. Anita was a loving Christian wife, mother, and grandmother raising her daughter, Judy, in the First Baptist Church of Baytown where she was a long time member.

Anita's lifelong activities included 42 dominoes, flower gardening, cooking and church activities. After marrying Garland in 1992 she began a whole new hobby of RV camping. They had many wonderful years on campouts with the San Jac Wheelers participating in games, music and fellowship. For the past 20 years while married to Garland she was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ, and they enjoyed Sunday services and many other church functions. Anita was an outstanding cook and she loved preparing food for her family and friends. Her family always made special requests for her chocolate pies, cornbread dressing and chicken salad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, C. Leonard Jackson; second husband, H. Garland Adams; brother, James Coffey; sister, Margaret Myers; and granddaughter, Lacey Anne Hanks.

Anita is survived by her only child, Judy Jackson Hanks and husband, Ray of Kansas City, MO; brother, Clarence Coffey of Highlands; stepdaughter and husband, Jan & John Krasnick of Seabrook; granddaughter, Ashley Hanks May and husband, Jared of KC, MO; step grandchildren, Deidre Johnson, Stacey Neely, Kevin Hanks, Thomas Paden, Justin Hamilton, and Travis Pyle; great grandchildren, Grace & Bryce May; and 10 step great grandchildren. Also surviving are her niece, Carole McQueen and husband, Horace of Latexo, TX; nephews, Don Coffey and wife, Jenice of Baytown, Dale Myers and wife, Margaret of Novi, MI, and James Coffey and wife, Debbie of Rockwall, TX.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral home Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Brad Benoit officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Coffey, Ray Hanks, Kevin Hanks, Dennis McQueen, Travis Pyle, and Pat Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Jared May, Kirk Neely, Dale Myers, Horace McQueen, and James Coffey.
