Graveside services for Alfred Carl "A.C." Adams, 79, Cypress, Texas, formerly of the Ada area are 11 a.m. Saturday at Rosedale Cemetery at Ada. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond, the Rev. Gary Brykt officiating.
Mr. Adams died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at a Cypress, Texas, hospital. He was born June 12, 1932, in Holdenville, Okla., to Homer A. and Mable Johnston Adams.
He attended Butner grade school and graduated from Old Butner High School in 1950. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Central State University in 1953 and a Master of Education degree in 1955 from East Central.
He married Ruth Ann Canterbury on Dec. 26, 1960, in Ada, Okla.
Mr. Adams was an elementary school teacher and principal. Later he was a director for the Oklahoma State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services retiring in 1994 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Cypress, Texas, a HAM radio operator and a member of Edmond Amateur Radio Club. He was a member of Deer Creek Kiwanis Club and Red Cross/Salvation Army Disaster Relief team.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Canterbury Adams, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Adams Matthews and her husband Larry, and Carla Adams Mackey and her husband Doug; a granddaughter, Samantha Mackey; a grandson, Adam Mackey; one sister, Glenda Pannell and her husband John; a nephew, Keith Pannell; niece, Lora Pannell Sladovnik; and numerous cousins.
