He died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
He was born July 6, 1918, in Herman. He grew up on a farm near Nickerson and graduated from high school in Nickerson. He married Florence Schuett Oct. 5, 1939, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the years of 1944-46. Following his military service, he returned to Fremont and drove over the road truck for Gambles for many years. Later, he became co-owner and manager of a fishing resort in Miltona, Minn. He and his wife moved back to Fremont in 1984.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 20, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Fremont Eagles Aerie 200 and Golden "K" Kiwanis Club, all of Fremont.
