James Eugene Adams passed away at his home on Monday, June 10, 2013.

James Eugene Adams was born on October 31,1934, the second son of Gilbert and Daisy (Arkebauer) Adams. On December 31,1953 he married Lena Schonherr. She survives at the home.

Shortly after Jim and Lena were married, he was drafted into the Army and served for two years. Upon returning to Leavenworth he went to work for Kansas Power and Light in the gas department and worked there for 32 years, retiring in 1991.

He was an active member of the Eagles, a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the KPL Retirees Club and the Eagles REAC.

He is survived by his three children, James F. Adams (Darcie), Thomas E. Adams (Kathleen) and Denise M. Dillon (Billy), five grandchildren, Katie Lynne Adams, Allison Marie Dillon, Molly Kathleen Adams, William Ryan Dillon and Aaron Thomas Adams, and adopted sister Evelyn Racine.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Daisy Adams and three brothers John Adams, William Adams and Robert Adams.

Visitation Wednesday, June 12, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service Thursday, June 13, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
