Addie Merchant Acosta, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008.

Addie was born in Mississippi and she moved to Pensacola as a young adult where she lived until her death. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and church member. She loved playing bridge, cooking and caring for her family and friends.
Her only job was at the Pensacola Hardware Company, which she dearly loved.

Mrs. Acosta was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Dick Dabbs; her husband, Herman Merchant and after Herman's death her second husband Bill Acosta; her brother, James Dabbs and her sister, Lucille Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Bob Merchant (Debbie); daughter, Marilyn Merchant; grandchildren, Stephanie Harris and Amanda Merchant; great grandchildren, Devin and Jordyn; uncle, Glynn Arrington (Frances); sister-in-law, Katherine Dabbs and niece, Kay Stone (Dan).

The family would like to thank East Hill Baptist Church and the Sabal House for their love and support.

Friends will be received from 1pm Wednesday, December 3, 2008 until services beginning at 2pm Wednesday at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rick Spencer and Rev. Jim Burkhardt officiating.

Burial follows in Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to East Hill Baptist Church, 3960 Spanish Trail, Pensacola, FL 32504.
