The eighteen year old son of Smith and the late Mary Acord, Harley Russell Acord, drowned Tuesday at 4:30 in the afternoon, while bathing in a swimming hole near Massieville in Indian Creek.
Acord, an unskilled swimmer with a crippled arm, got into a deep area and was unable to be rescued by a less skilled friend who was with him.
Along with his father, he leaves a brother, Herbert Acord of Schooley.
