Jerome S. "Jerry" Acks, age 84, of Reynoldsburg, OH died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born September 30, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Herman and Anna (Ginsberg) Acks.

He retired as Assistant Chief of Communications from the Associated Press News Service after more than 48 years of service. He served as Past President of the Brotherhood at Agudas Achim Synagogue as well as recipient of the Pride of the Brotherhood Award. He was Past Master of Whitehall Lodge #761 F. and A.M. and a Past President of the 14th District Masonic Officers Association. He was a former member of Ohio Chapter #12 R.A.M., Columbus Council #8 R. and S.M., Mt. Vernon Commandery #1, K.T., Aladdin Shrine Temple, and Whitehall Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Larry Ancil Caseman, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Selma Acks and sister-in-law, Mary Acks.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nan L.; son, Harvey A. (Cherie) Acks of Solon, OH; twin daughters, Jerri Sue (Kevin) McAndrew of Pickerington, OH and Terri Lynn (James) Salzgaber of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Acks, Jamie Acks, Jason Woolever, Ashlee (Thomas) Boyer, and Dustin, Ryan (Andrea) and Connor McAndrew; brother, David Acks of Brookpark, OH; great-grandchildren, Leigha Boyer and Blake Acks; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his beloved dog Maggie.

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm (Masonic Service at 7:30pm) Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday, June 20, 2013. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg.
