Mrs. Virginiabelle Kabel, wife of Dr. Robert N. Kabel, Terre Haute physician and surgeon, died Saturday morning, Feb. 20th, at the Union Hospital following a brief illness. She succumbed after undergoing emergency surgery. The family residence is at 8818 Oak street.
Mrs. Kabel was a member of the Central Christian Church, the auxiliary of the Vigo County Medical Society, and was an alumnae of the Alpha Society. She was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College and the Indiana University Medical Center where she majored in dietetics.
Besides the husband, she is survived by a four-year-old son, Robert Jr.; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Acker, New Castle; two sisters, Miss Meriam Acker and Mrs. Beverly Ankrom, New Castle; and two brothers, James Acker, New Castle and Paul Acker of the U.S. Air Force.
The body was taken to the Cross Funeral Home where services were held Monday morning with the Rev. R. Powell Mead officiating. The body was then taken to the Main & Sons Funeral Home in New Castle for services Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
