Roger is survived by his twin daughters, Delores Pierce and Diane Keene; by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Glynda July 21, 2009.
He was one of nine siblings. Roger was born in Racine, WI September 20, 1927 the son of Fred and Josephine (Kempen) Abresch. Following his formal education near the end of WWII he joined the US Coast Guard.
He served his country honorably and he reenlisted in the US Air Force where he served until his retirement from active duty in 1969. Roger also served his country during the Korean and the Viet Nam Wars.
He was a lifetime member of the Norfolk American Legion Post 925, Massena VFW Post # 1143 and a charter member of the AmVets Post # 4. He was a member of the Massena Knights of Columbus Council # 1141. Roger attended St. Raymond's Church for many years until his health failed him. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry and doing crossword puzzles. Roger loved to sculpture and paint and spending time with his friends at the American Legion and V.F.W.
Roger was a very talented, thoughtful, funny and loving man who left us with wonderful memories for all to cherish.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raymond's Church, Raymondville with Rev. Andrew J. Amyot presiding. Interment will be Briar Hill Cemetery, Morrisville NY.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
