Jesse Columbus Ables, who was born in Polk County, Missouri on September 1, 1876, died of acute TB on May 6, 1913, aged 36.

Jesse’s parents were Jesse Woodson Ables (1835-1900) and Paralee Caroline Jones Ables (1839-1915), who were married on April 21, 1870. They are both interred at the Salem Cemetery.

Jesse Woodson Ables was previously married to Mary Irene Lockwood, and they had three children — James Isham Ables, John Lewis Ables and Mary Caldona Ables.

Jesse Woodson and Paralee Ables had six children — Olla Florence Ables, Jesse Columbus Ables, Marion E. Ables, Edward Ables, Leroy Emmons Ables and Leander Ables.

On Sept 17, 1905, Jesse C. Ables, who was a farmer, married Loretta A. Coberly in the home of S.W. Ailey, Minister of the Gospel in Polk County, Missouri. Loretta and Jesse had two daughters — Lucia Ables, who was born on Oct. 7, 1907, and Jessie May Ables, who was born on Sept 3, 1912, eight months before her father Jessie Columbus Ables died.

Lucia, who married Eston Dodge in the mid-1930s, died in 1940, aged 32. Jessie May married Roy A. Johnson in the mid-1930s. She married Frank Polodna, Jr in the mid-1940s. Jessie May died in 1977, aged 65.
