Resident of San Jose
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She had been a resident at Villa Fontana Retirement Community in San Jose.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Cavallo (Alan) and Kristen Grant (Ky), and her grandchildren, Alexa and Megan Cavallo, and Jake and McKenzie Grant.
Born in Fruita, Colorado her family moved to Dragerton, Utah when she was 3 years old. She was one of 11 children, leaving behind 8 remaining siblings, Manuel Abeyta, Jennie Hansen, Harry Abeyta, David Abeyta, Loretta Jewkes, Margaret (Marty) Alves, Carol Bland and Charles (Chuck) Abeyta. James Abeyta and Pearl Lane are deceased. She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.
Pati graduated from Notre Dave H.S. in Price, Utah and then attended the University of Utah. While attending the University, she met and married Lyn Olsen. They moved to San Francisco in 1961 and then settled in San Jose to raise their two girls until they divorced in 1972.
Pati moved to Scotts Valley in 1984, where she enjoyed weekends at the pool with friends and family and the beauty of the ocean and beaches in Santa Cruz. Pati had a long career in the Savings Loan industry. She was also an avid tennis player and enjoyed the game immensely. At one time, Pati and a partner, owned a tennis shop near the Blossom Hill Tennis Club in San Jose. She had a wide variety of friends and always enjoyed cooking and entertaining. During her time at Villa Fontana, she discovered Bingo and loved to play daily. Love of family, honor and good humor were her gift to all of us. She will forever be in our hearts and we will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery located at 22555 Cristo Rey Drive in Los Altos on Monday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. A lunch reception will follow at Aldo's Ristorante located at 14109 Winchester Blvd., Los Gatos.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Heart Association through the tribute site at:
