LA CENTER, Ky. — Carl Ray Abernathy, 66, of La Center died at 11:20 p.m. Monday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. He was retired from Dan's Implement in La Center.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Abernathy; three sons, James Abernathy of DeSoto, Mo., Jerry Abernathy of Bandana, and Jeffrey Abernathy of Kevil; one daughter, Cindy Scott of La Center; five brothers, Floyd Abernathy of Atlanta, Bobby Abernathy of Festus, Mo., Lewis Abernathy of Manhattan, Kan., Sonny Abernathy of Kevil and Lynn Abernathy of La Center; four sisters, Emma Brand of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Rosie Turner, Mary Manning and Barb Scott, all of La Center; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Irene; one brother; one sister; and his parents, Elva and Alva Pearson Abernathy.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Rev. Ryan Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Oscar Cemetery. ~~~ THE PADUCAH SUN, Paducah, McCracken County, KY, Feb. 3, 2010
