Esther Abend Glickstein, 96, Kansas City, MO, passed away September 20, 1997, at her home. Graveside services 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 22, at Sheffield Cemetery.
Kindly omit flowers, family suggests contributions to the Ronald Merkadeau Revolving Loan Fund, c/o School of Architecture, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, or Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
Mrs. Glickstein co-owned with her husband, Bernard Glickstein, Bernard's Dry Goods, Independence Avenue and Prospect for many years, until his death in 1972. She was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and its Sisterhood; Hadassah; and was a Life Member of Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy Auxiliary.
Mrs. Glickstein was born in Poland and came to Kansas City from there in 1938. She was also preceded in death by her son, Aaron Glickstein, in 1972, and her son-in-law, Ronald Merkadeau, in 1977. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Martha G. and Sidney Cohn, Overland Park, KS; daughter, Sylvia G. Merkadeau, San Mateo, CA; brother, Allen Abend, of the home; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. (Arrangements: Louis Memorial Chapel)
