Ruth Abee Cuddington, 70, of Roanoke, Va., and formerly of Hickory, died Tuesday in Roanoke following an automobile accident.

A daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth Clark Abee, she was born May 27, 1910 in Hickory. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke and was a retired school principal for the Roanoke School System.

Mrs. Cuddington was a graduate of University of South Carolina and was a member of Virginia Education Association, National Education Association and the American Association of University Women.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Catawba Memorial Park.

Surviving are her husband, William F. Cuddington Jr; two sons, William F. Cuddington III of Huntsville, Ala., and David A. Cuddington, of Silver Springs, Md., a daughter, Mrs. Rick O. (Betty) Newman of St. Louis, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Wilson (Autery) Rowe of Newberry, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

Bass-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
