Obituary
Abbey M. Abbott, age 54, of Scranton, died Sunday morning in the Hospice Unit of the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton after an illness. Born in Scranton on June 19, 1952 she was the daughter of the late Anna Nardelli Abbott and Michael Peter Abbott, with whom she resided. She was a graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School in 1970 and earned an Associates Degree in clerical work from Lackawanna Junior College.She was previously employed by the Scranton National Bank, the Scranton Police Department and Peters Associates. Abbey also volunteered her time at the American Heart Association and Pro-Life.She was also a member of St. Ann Maronite Catholic Church in West Scranton and a member of the church's Our Lady Queen of Peace Sodality. Abbey enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and attending programs through Goodwill Industries.Her hobbies included exercise, art projects, playing board games, unscrambling word puzzles, and solving Wheel of Fortune phrases. Abbey was a devout Maronite Catholic, attending mass faithfully at St. Ann Maronite Church and dilligently observing mass on Catholic televison. She knew the importance of faith and family and looked forward to spending Sunday dinners with her loved ones at her sister's home.Abbey was especially grateful for her family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed her nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Everyone who knew Abbey commented on her kindness, unyielding faith, and sincerity. She is also survived by her two sisters, Andrea Vincenti and husband Richard of Westbrookville, N.Y. nd Michele McDade and husband Mark E.of West Scranton .Four nieces, Tracy Vincenti Krentz, Middletown, N.Y., Nicole Vincenti James, Westbrookville, N.Y., Richelle Vincenti, Westbrookville, N.Y., and Marci McDade Barnansky, Scranton.Two nephews, Michael Joseph McDade, Scranton and Mark Peter McDade, Dunmore. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. from the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Avenue, West Scranton with a Funeral Liturgy and committal services at 11:00 A.M. in St. Ann Maronite Church, corner of Price and North Sumner Avenue in West Scranton to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Scranton. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. Incense services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30P.M.
