MRS. ELLEN A. LEACH.
Ellen A. Abbott was born at Buffalo Sept. 2, 1846, and died at her home at Dover last Tuesday from a general breakdown incident to advancing age.
She was married to Lyman Leach at Kalamazoo, residing later in Calhoun and Eaton counties, and came to Clare county in 1881, being therefore one of the early settlers of this territory. Six children came to bless their union, one dying in infancy Of the survivors, Howard has been here taking care of his parents for some time, George lives at Millersburg, Mrs. David Kirkpatrick at Ole Elum, Wash., Mrs. Ed. Van Conant in Hatton Twp., and Mrs. James Thompson in Sheridan. There are also eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held yesterday forenoon at the Cong. church at Dover of which Mrs. Leach was a charter member and an active worker, being conducted by Rev. Lyford. Interment was made in Cherry Grove cemetery.
From a distance were Llewellan Leach, a granddaughter, of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Thos. Mason of Rogers City. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was kept away by ill health.
