MONTGOMERY - Harry E. Acor, 79, of 38 Bower St., Montgomery, died at 12:37 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in the Williamsport Hospital.
Born June 8, 1924, in Clinton Township, Lycoming County, he was the son of the late Eugene J. Acor and Dora (Weaver) Murray.
He served during World War II with the Army in the 5th Division in the European, African, and Middle Eastern theaters, earning five Battle Stars for the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He also served in Germany from July 1948 until June 1952, and later in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
He was employed as a security guard by Burns Security, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Acor was a member of VFW Post 743 at Montgomery and enjoyed building models and jig saw puzzles.
He is survived by five sons and a daughter-in-law, Harry E. Jr. of New Haven, Conn., Steven D. of Schuylkill Haven, Eugene H. of Schuylkill Haven, James A. of New Columbia and Keith A. and Michelle of Auburn; two daughters, Lorna A. of Las Vegas, Nev., and Vicki M. of Montgomery; six grandchildren, Miranda, James Jr., Eddie, Jason, Andrew, Shiane; and his former wife, Nancy J. Acor of Montgomery.
Mr. Acor was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Acor, who died in 1973; and his stepfather, Maynard E. Murray, who died in 1970.
Graveside services will be conducted in the Turbotville Cemetery by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
Services are being handled by Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Ave., Montgomery.
