Marian F. Albrethsen, 92, of Ashton, Idaho, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Ashton Living Center.

She was born June 4, 1918, in Farnum, Idaho, to George Henry and Marian Evelyn Bratt White. She attended grade school in Farnum and graduated from Ashton High School. She attended Ricks College and then earned her teaching certificate from the University of Idaho in 1939. She earned her master's degree in math and science from Idaho State University in 1966.

She married Glenn "Tex" Williams on Dec. 30, 1942, in Tonopah, Nev. A daughter, Glenda, was born into this marriage. They later divorced. She married Harvey Albrethsen on Aug. 12, 1965, in St. Anthony, Idaho. They had a wonderful marriage. They loved sharing their families, and Marian loved Harvey's children like her own.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She taught school for 35 years and then, after retiring, she continued substitute teaching. She loved the students and spending time with them. Teaching was her first love.

She was a social butterfly and enjoyed quilting at the senior citizens center in Ashton. She liked reading, playing pinochle and solving crossword puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda (Roy) Montgomery of Ashton; grandchildren, Shellie (Skyler) Steed, Shannon (Jill) Hansen, Kristy (Curtis) Parkinson, Korby Hansen and Reagan (Kelli) Hansen; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; sister, Afton Newbold; and brother, Clyde White.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at the Ashton 4th Ward LDS chapel, with Bishop Jim Hawkes officiating.
