E. L. "Skinny" Call, 76, of Dresden, died July 22, 2005, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden with Glenn Scott officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Larry Call, Joe Perry Darnell, Doug Darnell, Jackie Darnell, Roger Valles, Kenny Adams, Mike Parrish and Ronnie Brannon served as pallbearers.
Members of the Dresden Fire Department served as honorary pallbearers.
Call was born in Weakley County, the son of the late Maywood Columbus and Vera Jane Dunn Call. He was a maintenance superintendent for the state of Tennessee Department of Transportation and a Methodist minister. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 94 in Dresden. He was the Dresden fire chief for 43 years and a member of the Gideons for 25 years. He was a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church in Como. He was the former pastor at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, Cottage Grove Methodist Church and Olive Branch Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Milton Call of Dresden; a daughter, Pat (Ralph) Tarver of Martin; two brothers, Robert Call of Detroit, Mich., and Tom Call of Dresden; two grandchildren, Patrick Tarver and Brandi Tarver Woodruff; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Woodruff.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Bell Darnell.
