LLOYD THOMAS ABLES

Funeral services were conducted here Saturday afternoon for Lloyd Thomas Ables, 73, a retired Frisco Railroad employee and former Madill resident.

Mr. Ables died Wednesday evening April 3, following a sudden illness. He had resided in Tulsa since 1960.

Verlyn Snell, Madill First United Methodist Church pastor, officiated for services from Watts Memorial Chapel. Music was arranged by Herschel Beard. Burial was in Woodberry-Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Ables was born April 24, 1917, at Healdton. He moved to Madill during his childhood years with his family, attending the Madill school system and graduating with the Class of '35.

He married Jennye V. Bridges in 1939 at Tishomingo. The family moved to Sherman, Texas, where he joined Frisco as a conductor. Mr. Ables was assigned to Tulsa in 1960 where he held a management position until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Ables was Trainmaster-Supervisor at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife of the family home in Tulsa, Mr. Ables is survived by a son, Don Ables, of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter Karen Bitner, of Tulsa; two sisters, LaVada Ayres of Ardmore and Lody Mason of Jupiter, Fla., five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Loweta Owens, of Norman and a brother, Lawrence Ables of Madill.

Casket escorts for services and interment were Lyn and Scott Ables, Dale Nowlin, Don Lemmons, Randolf Byrd, Francis Owens and Jim Hamilton. Service arrangements were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
