In Memory of Florence O'Neal (Mills) Ballinger

Florence O'Neal Ballinger, fifth child of a family of twelve children born to Joseph & Nora Mills, was born at Madison, Nebraska, June 11, 1900. She was preceded in death by her parents & five of her brothers & sisters: Grace, Willie, Margaret, Abner, & Leslie. Surviving her is one sister, Mattie Randolph of Buffalo OK.& five brothers John, Arthur, & Edgar of Buffalo OK. Albert of Protection KS.& Clyde of Medicine Lodge, KS.
Florence grew up in & near the Paruna Community north & east of Buffalo, OK. attending grade school at Alto.
She married Oscar Ballinger Nov 28,1918 in Harper Co. OK.. Two darling daughters, Lorene & Lucille, were born to them. Oscar died suddenly of a ruptured appendix in 1923.
She married Henry Ballinger in 1926. Two sons, Melvin & Delbert were born & raised. They moved from northeast of Buffalo to a farm northeast of Walsh, CO. in 1947. Henry died after a short illness in 1948. Florence resided in the Walsh Community for 32 years. Reflecting back over those years, the loss of two husbands, the depression times, and a serious illness of her own, Florence could still smile easily & tell of many happy experiences.
Her youngest daughter, Lucille Chase, was killed in a vehicle accident in 1947 leaving four small children. Her son-in-law, Albert Chase married again to Wilma Ferbrache who raised the children well along with three more. Florence loved them all & was very happy with all her grandchildren.
She leaves to remember her the immediate family, Lorene Randolph & husband Harry of National City, Calif., Melvin of the home, Delbert & wife Oreatha of Harper KS., five sisters-in-law Bessie Ballinger, Blanche Ballinger, Genevieve Mills, Lottie Mills, & Leota Mills. Twelve grandchildren, twenty Great-grandchildren& a host of nephews, nieces, & friends.
Florence loved & praised all of her relatives, enjoyed visiting with her many friends & neighbors immensely, and felt best when working to aid them all.
Florence was baptized while attending the Puruna Baptist Church & in Nov of 1958 joined the First Baptist Church of Walsh, CO. She manifested a strong faith in the Lord through much sickness & trial.
She passed away in the Walsh Hospital after a lengthy illness & many complications at the age of 79 yrs.& 50 days. Florence was loved dearly by all & her passing leaves a great void which will be long in filling.
