Malinda was the first wife of Thomas Chelton Friend. They were married in Worth Co., Missouri on 3-16-1854. While this may be the earliest marked grave, Malinda might not have been the first burial. There is a theory that Thomas Chelton Friend had moved away before she died so she was buried in the place reserved for him, between Florence McCullon Friend and Elva Friend.
T. C. Friend moved away after Malinda died and remarried a second time to Marilla Maran. After Marilla died (March 11, 1919), he returned to live in the area and was also buried in the family plot.
Malinda was the daughter of Benjamin Filbert and Anna Woods.
