Don L. Armitage of Shawnee died Friday at a Norman hospital. He was 49. Armitage was born March 11, 1952, in Chandler to Fay and Pauline Jackson Armitage. He lived in Shawnee most of his life and attended Shawnee Schools.
He worked in off-shore drilling with Veritas Drilling Company of Houston, Texas.
On April 15, 1994, he married Esther Wakolee in Anson, Texas.
Armitage served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home; two sons, Donny Lee Armitage Jr. of Shawnee and Daniel Armitage of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Deanna Armitage of Shawnee and Ashley Armitage; two brothers, Mont Armitage of Tecumseh and Wade Armitage of Shawnee; three sisters, Sharon Daniel of Meeker, Barbara Bailey of Duncan and Cheryl Scism of Salido, Texas; stepson and his wife, Arnold and Becky Terry of Big Springs, Texas; one grandson, two step grandsons, three nieces and two nephews.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carol Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, north of Meeker.
