Mrs. Welch, 96, was born May 23, 1909 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Frank and Sadie Ragsdale. She attended school in Sweetwater. She married Elgia Welch in 1926 in Mayfield. They left Sweetwater in 1965, moving to Keyes, Oklahoma. In 1975, they moved to Briscoe. She was a homemaker. She had been in the Wheeler Care Center since 1995. She attended the Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bill; four sisters, two brothers; and three grandchildren.

She is wurvived by five sons; Ray of Madras, Oregon; Troy of Avery, Texas; Chuck of Peyton, Colorado; John of Amarillo, Texas and Buck of Los Angeles, California; six daughters; Hazel Miller and Barb Williams, of Allison, Texas; Delia Wolf of Edmond, Oklahoma; Shirley Spitzer of Sayre, Oklahoma; Joy Meadows of Wheeler, Texas and Betty Newsom of Odessa, Texas; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Services were in the First Baptist Church of Wheeler, Texas, on December 29, 2005, with Bob Thomas, of Odyssey Health Care of Amarillo, Texas, officiating.

Interment was in Salem Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be given to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Services were by the Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler, Texas.
