Fannie Edna Bates, 95, Redland, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel, Okla. She was born Oct. 9, 1908, in the Brinkley community of Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Leanna Taylor.
Fannie and Clarence "Bood" Bates were married in August 1929 in the Redland community. She attended Faith Assembly Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and her family.
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leanna Taylor; her husband, Clarence "Bood" Bates; one son, Russell Bates; and four brothers and five sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Josie Bates, and John and Jean Bates; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alene and Buddy Wicker, and Juanita Bates; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Camille Braxton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Faith Assembly. Burial will follow in Redland Cemetery. The Rev. Elwayne Schaeffer, the Rev. Ronnie Bates and the Rev. Karen Douglas will officiate.
