Linda Lovan Haight Cooper, resident of Ponca City, passed Monday evening, September 21, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was 60 years of age. Linda was born October 14, 1948 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Couie Scott and Geraldine (Green) Scott. Her early education was received in the Eloy, Arizona schools later earning an Associate Degree in Science and Nursing from Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Science and Nursing from Northwestern State University in Alva. Her nursing profession took her to Enid, Oklahoma where she was employed with the Enid Memorial Hospital. She then worked for Kimberly Quality Care as Branch Manager of Northeastern Oklahoma. She also was President of Case Management Association of Oklahoma. After leaving Kimberly Quality Care she became a partner in Home Health Services of Greater Oklahoma. Linda was also a traveling contract nurse and had been on assignment in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1999 she became a clinical nurse where she worked until ill health forced her retirement. Linda was married to Charles Wilbur Haight on August 15, 1966 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was then married to Marvin Earl Cooper on February 14, 2008. Next to spending time with her granddaughter, the joy of Linda's life was her work and she was known for her great concern and care toward others. Linda never met a stranger and always enjoyed the company of others. Her other enjoyments included her family, especially her granddaughter Jaycee, shopping at flea markets, her flower gardening, gospel music and even dancing. She is survived by her husband, Marvin, of the home; three children, Charles David Haight, Mesa, Arizona, Tonja Diane Haight and Teresa Renee Gadhei, both of Ponca City; one granddaughter, Jaycee Kathleen Haight of Ponca City; four brothers, Couie Eugene Scott, Garber, Oklahoma, Timothy Blaine McDonald, Hillsdale, Oklahoma, Kenneth Leon Townsend, Piedmont, Missouri, and Patrick Scott of Phoenix, Arizona; many other extended family and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Charles. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with First Free Will Baptist Church Pastor David Bigger presiding. Interment will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Price Cemetery Southwest of Tahlequah. Casket bearers will be Marvin Cooper, Pamela Haight Fletchall, William McDonald, John Haight, Aaron Robinson, Corie Scott, David Long and Johny Dale Nichols. Honorary casket bearers will be Tim McDonald, Couie Eugene Scott, Leon Townsend, Bill Downing, Dean Haight and Neil Haight.
