---------From: THE CLARK COUNTY CHIEF - April 8, 1906
Mr. C.L. Bowers who lives 12 miles south in Oklahoma Territory sold $1144 worth of broom corn off of 120 acres on his 160 acre claim besides 10 acres of cotton that netted him $17 per acre. This was on upland prairie and the land was never irrigated. Now what do you think of farming in the "Dry Belt?"-----------------------------
Charles was a farmer & like his father, William Eyre Bowers (who is buried 3 miles north of Cushing, OK in the Zion Cemetery), Charles was a Freemason. In October, 1908, Charles became a Scottish Rite 32° Mason in Guthrie, OK. On March 12, 1909, Charles became the first Worshipful Master of the White Star Masonic Lodge (Gate Valley No. 456) in Gate, OK.
