Shawnee resident Wilma Jean Carlton, 70, passed away Sept. 26, 2010, in Shawnee.
She was born Jan. 9, 1940, in McLoud to Edna Ruth O'Neal and Gilby Benson Carlton. She attended Dale High School and graduated in 1958. Wilma lived in McLoud for several years until 1968 when she moved to Shawnee. She spent 25 years as a Sunday School Secretary at the Johnson Church of God. She was a member more than 29 years.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Ruth O'Neal and her father, Gilby Benson Carlton; sister, Dorothy Carlton and husband, John.
She is survived by cousins, Juanita Elliott, Helen Wilburn and husband, Lloyd Wilburn, Pat Elliott and many other cousins, loved ones and friends.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at New Salem Cemetery, located north of I-40 on highway 177 (to Jack Town) Cemetery sign is on the east side of highway 177, then follow the dirt road to cemetery.
