GEORGE KAMMERZELL KILLED BY EXPLOSION
George Kammerzell, young farmer living on the Dickson farm, eight miles south and two east of Okeene was fatally injured Friday evening of last week by the explosion of a barrel in which he was generating steam.
The barrel exploded with terrific force, hurling Mr. Kammerzell about 25 feet and the barrel about 50 feet. The barrel folded like a piece of paper and struck Mr. Kammerzell above the right hip, tearing a hole from the center of his body part way to the back.
Following the arrival of Dr. Geo. M. Holcombe, R. L. English made the trip there and back with his ambulance in 25 minutes.
The accident occurred about 7:30 in the evening and Mr. Kammerzell died at 5:00 o'clock Saturday morning, living less than ten hours.
Mr. Kammerzell had the barrel laid across two motor blocks and had built a fire under it to generate steam to "blow out" the radiator of an old Oakland car.
Mr. Kammerzell is survived by his wife, one child, father and mother, three brothers and three sisters. He was 26 years, 8 months, 23 days old.
Funeral servicers were held Sunday at the Immanuel Baptist church southeast of Okeene. Rev. Chas. Wagnert, pastor of the Zion Baptist church of Okeene, was in charge, assisted by Rev. R. C. Seibel, pastor of the M. B. church of Okeene, and Rev. Melvin Geis, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist church. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The Wooten Funeral Home of Okeene had charge of the arrangements.
George is buried in the same cemetery as his parents. He has a home made stone with just his name and no dates.
