AKERS, James Clyde Jr., (''J. C.""), 55, of Max Meadows, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 31, 1997, from Edgemont Nursing Home. He was an employee of Amsco for 20 years, and a member of Wytheville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was the treasurer and an usher. He was a 1959 graduate of George Wythe High School and attended Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Akers. He is survived by his wife, Katheryn Mathena Akers of Max Meadows; a daughter, Amber Akers of Max Meadows; four sons, James C. (''J. C."") Akers III and his wife, Tara of Wytheville, Jonathan and Nathanael Akers of Max Meadows and Dale Dice of Max Meadows; his mother, Georgia M. Akers of Wytheville; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Orville Porter of Wytheville; two special friends, Rodney Hovencamp and Lloyd MIller; three nieces; one nephew; three aunts, and two uncles. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gillman Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday at Gillman Funeral Chapel, or at any time at the residence at Max Meadows, or after the service at the home of Linda and Orville Porter, 640 Withers Road. Those preferring to do so may make memorial contributions to the Wytheville Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund. Gillman Funeral Chapel, Wytheville, is in charge of the arrangements.
