Graveside services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Goodland Cemetery for Opal Abney of Hugo. Mrs. Abney died Jan. 4 in Memorial Hospital at the age of 62. She was born Nov. 13, 1918 in Reese, Texas and had been a resident of Oklahoma since 1963. Surviving relatives include: her husband, Ephus Abney of the home; 11 children and step children including: Betty Jean Bateman of Sawyer, Bessie Lee Hill, Francis Louise Mandress and Sheila May Gamblin all of Hugo, Kathy Ann Abney of Lubbock, Texas, Bennie Wayne Cooper of Germany, James H. Cooper of Atoka, Donna Fay Webber of McKinney, Texas, Frances Elrita Angle of Rockwall, Texas and Robert Allen and Kenneth Charles Tarrant; two brothers, Rufus Tarrant of Frost, Texas and Richard Tarrant of San Francisco, Ca.; two sisters, Ester Fleeman of Italy, Texas and Francis Birchfield of Mission, Texas; she is also survived by 11 grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Coffey Funeral Home. Rev. David Bush officiated.
